Stephanie Carlson Henke

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Stephanie Henke is a freelance oboist and teacher residing near Atlanta, GA. She received her bachelor’s degree from the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory of Music in Berea, Ohio, where she studied with Elizabeth Camus of the Cleveland Orchestra. Her master’s degree was completed at the University of Georgia, during which time she studied with Dr. Dwight Manning. She continues to study toward her DMA in oboe performance with a minor in bassoon at the University of Georgia, where she currently studies with Reid Messich and Amy Marinello. She has performed with the UGA Symphony Orchestra, UGA Wind Ensemble, Southern Wind Quintet, Georgia Double Reed Ensemble (at the 2008 IDRS Conference in Provo, Utah), Symphony Orchestra Augusta, Gainesville Symphony, Rome Symphony, Ocmulgee Symphony, and the GAMAC Chamber Orchestra, among others. In addition to performing, she is in demand as an educator and clinician in the metropolitan Atlanta area with experience working with diverse student musicians of all ages and backgrounds in private, small group, and classroom settings alike. In addition to her interests in double reed performance and pedagogy, she has a particular research interest in the oboe literature of the French Baroque. Her husband teaches middle school orchestra for the Gwinnett County Public Schools.
