Flutist Jessica Dunnavant is a freelance artist in Nashville, TN. She teaches in the School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University and at Belmont Academy, and she maintains a large private studio of talented young flutists. She has been a visiting professor at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Florida State University, and she has performed with the Nashville, Paducah and Jackson symphonies, among others. An early music enthusiast, Dr. Dunnavant performs on Baroque flute and recorder as a member of Music City Baroque, where she has been a featured soloist on Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti Nos. 2, 4 and 5. She is the Vice-President/President-Elect of the Mid-South Flute Society, previously serving three consecutive terms as Secretary. Dr. Dunnavant holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, a Master of Music at Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Music at Middle Tennessee State University. Her principal teachers were William Montgomery, Charles DeLaney, and Yvonne Chavez Hansbrough.
